messages depending on the recipient’s capabilities.

1.      Send a SecureMessenger message to ANY recipient

All you need is for the recipient to have an email address and a browser. If the SecureMail Gateway does not find a certificate for the recipient in the harvest database or SecureTier, the SecureMessenger feature is enabled. The SMG stores the message that is being sent and the recipient retrieves the message using a secure web connection. The recipient is prompted with a clue and asked for a passphrase to decrypt the message.

2.      Send secure, encrypted messages seamlessly to anyone with a Certificate

No end user action required. No browser needed. Seamlessly send and receive secure, encrypted messages through your existing email application even if your recipient is not a GlobalCerts SecureMail Gateway user. The recipient has obtained a security certificate from a commercial Certificate Authority (CA) and wants to exchange secure, encrypted email with you or other members of your organization. The external user sends a signed message to you or someone in your organization. As the email passes through the SecureMail Gateway, the SecureMail Gateway “harvests” the certificate, placing it in a harvest list and associates the certificate with the external user’s email address. The email continues to the Inbox of the SecureMail Gateway user. From that moment forward, any and all communications with that recipient will be secured automatically.

3.      Send secure, encrypted messages to a recipient that has a GlobalCerts
          account

No end user action required. No browser needed. Seamlessly send and receive secure, encrypted messages through your existing email application. The recipient’s organization also has a SecureMail Gateway. The recipient’s public certificate is published in SecureTier. The sender sends an email to the recipient. The sender’s SecureMail Gateway queries SecureTier for the certificate associated with the recipient. The query returns the public certificate of the recipient and the email is sent encrypted with no user intervention required.
